I will bring a camera with me tomorrow (need it for my project anyway) and take photos of my studio space! Being a 3rd year, we’ve finally got our own little officelike rooms to use. No more crowding in a big, but stuffy room with the rest of the students. Now I only share the studio with four other people, so I think it is going to be a lot more intimate. *wink wink, nudge nudge*
Day started with the class being given general information and being briefed on what to expect this year. We also got our timetable which the tutor described as ’skeletal’. He wasn’t kidding. The timetable basically shows when the tutors are in and when tutorials are available. As for projects… Well! We’ve been given a small 3 week project to get kick-started, and after that we’re on our own!
That’s what this proposal form is for. I’m supposed to fill it in with my plans for this final year. What are my personal projects going to be. What do I want to experiment with etc etc. It goes through things like weaknesses and strengths in your work…
Pretty thorough.
In a nutshell, this is what I WANT to do (I will find out on Thursday if I’ll be allowed to do it).
3 Week project: Mapping the building journey from my house to University.
Graphic Short Story Competition
Random shorter projects that involve me experimenting and learning as much as possible. So 3D things, Photoshop (Ewww), InDesign (Eruurughh!), Reportage drawing, painting… etc etc.
AND.
The Graphic Novel Butterflies and Moths.
This is the main issue and cause for concern at the moment. I’m not sure what their reaction to me accepting a contract will be. Will they think I pigeonhole myself way too early?
Can only wait and see. I’m mildly terrified of the Head of Illustration who is going to be our personal tutor this year. Lovely Lady. Brutally honest to the point where it feels like you’ve been gutted and had your intestines fed back to you. It’s quite the experience to say the least.
I’ll leave you with that mental image.
Toodeloo!
