Apologies for being silent.

Hello blog!

I’m sorry for being so away. The deadline for the Macmillan has now passed and I’ve sent my pop up book in to the competition. I will know how it went on the 1st of May.

We’ve had some problems with our neighbours recently and are trying to resolve it, but if it doesn’t change soon, me and Tom will move house.

Going to London to a birthday party tomorrow.

Very brief entry, just to show I’m alive. :) Will post later when time and energy permits. Just so trashed after that pop up book…

Sssh. 8 days until deadline and I’m surrounded by a strange calm.

I should be running around screaming and tearing my hair off right now, but I’m strangely settled down and relaxed. I have no right to be. This pop up book project is not even half done and they require a complete dummy book (all the mechanics complete and working) and three FINISHED spreads.

Three spreads? ‘That’s nothing’ you may think!
Well! I shall inform you that the last time I did three spreads (my last pop up book project), it took me at least a MONTH to only get the mechanics working. So that’s not including all the artwork AND the printing (which in the end felt rushed and could have been done a lot better).

So. Now, instead of having a month to do these mechanics, I have 8 days. There is no possible way I can finish this book properly in that time. But I’ve decided not to rush it. Things go badly wrong if I rush it. Especially with pop up. If ONE angle is off, the entire spread won’t close and everything is screwed up.

Pop up is by far the most brain crushing medium I have EVER come across, but once you get it right, the feeling you get when opening up the book you’ve crafted yourself, is simply unbeatable.

Photoshoot of DOOM!

Beware of this post, for I will be posting many pictures of ME.
As I said in the below blog post, I was in need of a friend with a camera, and I found Mithi with Drew (thank you both!)

The reason for this sudden desire to have my photo taken is because I’ve been offered a bio in a magazine, and I am going to use a real photo of me with drawn images onto it. One of the original ideas was to have half of a picture as a photo and the other half as an improvised drawing. Just to make it more creative. I also desperately NEED a good proper photo of myself for my portfolio and so on. So yes.

I haven’t decided which ones I’m gonna use yet (I just got home from the shoot), but I have a few favourites.

Anyway. Enough babbling and on with the pimpage.

This was taken BEFORE we actually started. I was having a cup of tea. The camera loves showing ALL BAD THINGS. But I like the expression, so why not.

Throughout this session, we were playing with lighting and settings, so many of the pictures are over exposed, like this one.

Yes! Lots from that angle!

Why not?

I DID NOT ASK TO TAKE THAT POSE ABOVE. Just want to make that clear! :P

One of my favourites. Can be played with lots!

Drew decided to try out different lighting. This was all just experimentation :)

Between shots. Eugh!

HAAAARR!

If this isn’t the sexiest thing on this planet, I dunno what is. I was told to do a seductive face. :D

I want one image of me walking outdoors so I can draw Bristol behind, but when this photo was taken I had actually forgotten that you may need SHOES if you’re supposed to be outdoors… Hrrm.

Another favourite. I want to add daydreaming drawings to this one. I’m also supposed to be walking.

Messing about!

Me after just about every ‘proper’ shot. :P

“Tell me to sod off!” How very gangster.

Might use this one.

I had to keep on doing the jump because my straps and stuff went into my face, like on the picture above!

Well. Except the fact that the back lighting makes it look like I’ve got a penis, I guess it’s alright.

THIS ONE IS JUST SOMETHING ELSE. I’m flipping LEVITATING.

Might use this one. Not sure about the context yet.

Um. No comment.

MANY THANKS TO MITHI AND DREW! <3 <3

Now to actually start playing around with these.
