Doing business!

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Oh gosh, the excitement!

I am in business! I just came back from the printers shop where I handed in my first commission to be scanned. Will pick it up on Monday.

I am also doing work for a company owned by Tom’s cousin where I am actually about to earn proper money doing the stuff I love. Right now I do character design and storytelling through imagery. If it is likable enough it will end up online and I’ll be sure to post the link here. So far so good. He likes my sketches and I am itching to do more. When I heard the proposal over the phone yesterday and the amount of money that would be involved, I couldn’t hold back my surprise and excitement. Luckily enough the company owner is a friend of mine so he didn’t mind all the repeating and babbling and loud giggles over the phone.

After a long while of not earning a single penny, I am finally getting the wheel moving. Maybe, MAYBE, this will work out for me.

Held first adventure :O!

Yarl. I’ve now GMed for about 6 hours straight and feel very very mushy. I truly hope my buddies enjoyed it and I got a hint that they might have when they said that we should play until we fall asleep. :P Of course, I can’t GM if I can hardly think straight, so I decided to stop the session after midnight when the coffee high was wearing off and the characters were in a nice moment of cliffhanger-ness.
The last words spoken before I stopped the game was: “Murderers! Murderers!” as the characters find themselves standing over a dead body with village guards approaching them, weapons drawn.

It is quite daunting to game master in English since you have to explain everything in English (shock horror), and often I forget words. Luckily enough I don’t have players who mock me for it :P

Too tired to go through the game I’m afraid, but I enjoyed it thoroughly anyway and I truly hope my friends did too!

My very first RP adventure in English!

W000t. I will GM for the first time on Sunday! Doing my own World of Darkness adventure which I am very much looking forward to.

only problem is that I’ve never GM’d the WoD system before, so my players know that they will need buckets load of patience stored.

I wonder if I’ll be able to explain things in English as I do in Swedish when it comes to Gming…. I guess we’ll seee. :D

Also! I FINALLY got my new coat. Thank you so much mum and dad for zeh money! Many hugs and much love from Jen.

(PS: Going to Italy in about two weeks!)

Off to Swansea for a little while!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

El has invited me to come stay at her place in Swansea (wales), so I will be going there today, do a 24 hour comic and lol around in general. When I come back I am immediately going to Phils place on the outskirts of Bristol and staying there over the weekend. When I come back from THAT, I am immediately going to the weekly RP…

Holy smokes. :P

Cafepress is DEVOURING ME!

Capslock. Hrm.

Yes. As the title might hint towards, I am a bit obsessed with cafepress. As in, I am taking it very seriously and working my ass off to make it good. So far it is extremely hard to have traditional art on t-shirt because of the colour distortion. With digital art, there is often the sharpness and boldness of the colours and lines which fits perfectly as prints on clothing, but traditional media (watercolour paint for example) is much more subtle and fluent… Or however I am supposed to describe it. I can’t make it that HARSH AND BOLD. It’s not possible.

Anyway. Enough about that. Here is the logo for my shop:

This is a hot man. This is a very hot man.

Since I just put it online, there is not much to choose from. Only one Nebo :D Lol. But hey, I’m working on it! spent 13 hours of yesterday, simply drawing. I couldn’t even go to the roleplaying.

Let’s see how this online shop thing goes!

UK government to the rescue!

Are you an EU student starting a degree in England? Do not fear! Brittland student loans be here!

Tom just told me of an application form for student grant and loans from the UK which would cover the rest of my fees, meaning I wouldn’t have to work on the side while studying full time.

Oh yes. Ooooh yes. No idea if they will accept me though.

The horrors of being a “grownup”.

Me and Tom just went through the student loan I will be receiving for the first year of Illustration. We saw how much money I would need to cover the bills and the cost of the degree as well. Turns out I will be able to cover it. Just.

This makes me realize how expensive it really is to study in England. As far as I know, going to University in Sweden is basically free. Here, a degree in Illustration will cost me £9000. NINE-THOUSAND… POUNDS….

My Foundation course here was a year of being spoiled by the Swedish government. I had no need to get a job on the side, I had so much money I even had a chunk left after I finished the course! Now, I might actually have to work part time while studying full time, Shock horror! Of course, this is what a normal student does in Brittland. There have been talks on the news channels about stressed out and completely broke students in England, barely having any money to pay for the materials for their courses.

I know this sounds quite spoiled of me, but I really really really don’t want to work. I’ve had bad experiences with working in England. Everything from lying bastard managers that need to be castrated and shot, to mental breakdowns in the back room of a big hotel chain. I just want to focus on my course completely. If there is anything I’m good at, it’s studying. When I study, I do so to the point of obsession. I draw until my back aches, my wrist stings and my brain goes mushy. … And I’m loving every minute of it.
Why can’t I study forever?
