And so, pictures shall be shown. Yarr. Yaharr!

At the moment, I am unable to remember everything that happened every single day, but I can talk you through some pictures instead! If you want to have a look through the entire album without my intervention, it is here:Paris Trip!

Here we go!

During our trip, we did not buy too much stuff, in fact, I only bought two books, a hat (which I lost) and 5 postcards. All the other money was spent on food and entry fees to certain places.

Every morning we would go out to a cafe and have a french breakfast. Something I loved taking pictures of.

The coffee is strong and the croissant heavenly.

After breakfast we would go out walking. We never took a single transport which saved us money, made us fitter (hopefully) and was much more fun.

On the first day we saw the Notre Dame. A HUGE Cathedral.

I know I don’t look too impressed, but Thomas never knows when to take pictures of me! It’s his fault I look like a retard on each and every one of them. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Mmmm. Death. Anyway! My camera is really blurry and you couldn’t use the flash in the cathedral, but hopefully you will see how big it is when looking at the following picture. It’s so hard to actually convey a feeling through a photo, but I my jaw was on the floor.

There’s another thing about Paris that makes my jaw hit the floor. Me and Thomas were in awe at how peaceful and clean the city was, but soon we stumbled upon something that was going to be a regular and common sight.

Armed policemen and the army itself. These lads don’t walk around with only a baton, they’ve got guns. Big guns. And protective gear. And awesome uniforms (and hot bums).

At one point we had more than 6 “swat” vans zooming past us and we saw them raid houses and search people continuously. Around the big sights, heavily armed soldiers were walking around with sub machine-guns. I wasn’t able to get a clear picture of them since Tom told me not to take photos of them. They might get pissed off :D

Oh well! Here’s a more peaceful sight. Thomas in one of the 479123432463 parks around Paris. This is a tiny one.

We went to more bloody awesome cathedrals and churches. They are all so grand and filled with bling.

Talk about high ceiling! I was just imagining adventures that could take place there.

Whenever we got hungry we would go to a cafe or restaurant and just relax. Thus I believe we have plenty of pictures of just that. I loved hearing French around me. Forgot to mention that me and Tom got around with basic French on our trip. I have learned a little bit in Sweden and we also had a phrasebook to aid us, so we could ask for simple things and say simple phrases. It was enough to make people understand us and I could see that they appreciated us more when we actually tried to speak their language.

Later on at some point we went to the Louvre! It is impossible to see everything in one go, but we saw plenty. I even stood by the real Mona Lisa painting (which was protected by bulletproof glass).

Here’s outside:

And two pictures from the inside. I will not post all of the pictures I took. If you are interested, just have a look in the full album. Yarr.

I mostly sketched there instead of taking pictures.

Above is me sketching one of the horse statues. Rar.

After seeing the Louvre (which was an unforgettable experience), me and Tom resumed our toddling about Paris. We hadn’t made any specific plans about what to do and see which was very relaxing. It was pure freedom to just see what we would stumble upon next. And so we happened to find a store which.. Well… … Let the pictures speak for themselves.

(there are more pictures in the full album)

Yum yum yum. HUGE crossbows!

Oh! And we also stumbled across something I didn’t expect to see (as you might notice on the retarded look on my face).

Alright.

But now we shall witness the best place I saw. The place which made me almost cry. I’m not joking. I was close to tears in happiness upon seeing it. It was a dream come true. It was better than everything else in Paris put together. With my luck though, the cameras batteries died on me only about 10 minutes after I had entered, so most of the stuff I saw, I cannot show you, but let me tell you this:

I am going back there. Let it cost whatever it will. I am going back there, armed with 48390243 cameras, a tent, some food and a sketchbook. I want to live there.

Welcome, to the Museum of biology, anatomy, prehistoric life, evolution and death.

Then my camera died.

What you didn’t see was the two other floors of huge reptilian skeletons. Dinosuar (spelling?) skeletons and other archeological findings. You didn’t see the many fetuses of animals and humans floating around in jars. You didn’t see all the other brains and organs they collected. You didn’t see the little fetus skeletons of humans. In the end, I have no way of showing you the opened up orangutangs with their insides spilling out or the absolutely HUMONGOUS skeleton of a mammoth.

But if you are interested, I am going to pop back there at some point in the future.

*deep breath*

Back to the other pictures! Which involve me and Tom eating French breakfast yet again!

Yum yum!

Thomas being a statue! Something he quite enjoyed and I joined in on later :D There are so many statues in Paris it is impossible to keep count.

Another thing.

All the French people seem to be jogging. ALL OF THEM. Me and Tom got tired just by looking at them. Here’s a flock of French coming towards Tom!

Wheee! Playground in the park!

Wheee! I’m.. under a tree!

Sexual art in a free entry art gallery. French love nudity. Of all sorts.

There’s a lot more pictures to go through, but I’m getting hungry here so I’ll just skim through the rest!

The patisserie about 2 minutes from our Hotel. Please check out the other pictures of this place. It is orgasm on a plate.

Common scene in a cafe. I love this picture because everyone seems so happy in it and it shows the bustling atmosphere. Basically, all the cafe’s were always packed with people enjoying themselves. It was also common for people to bring their dogs in. Here in Britain, you wouldnt be able to do that, but in Paris, it’s natural. A woman had her dog sit on the chair opposite her while she was having a coffee. I was trying not to squeal too much.

THEN. One day, it just started raining. And it wouldn’t stop. I only had my trainers with me and was quickly soaked.

That day, we tried to stay inside. We also went to watch Pirates of the Carribean 3.

… And so! Here is the last breakfast we had in Paris. I loved this cafe the most. The staff were wonderful.

Tom being british. A japanese tourist came up to him and took a photo. Lol :D

(really skipping a lot of pictures! I’m so hungry!)

The picture below is of two Americans we met and swapped email addresses with. They are coming to Bristol. Alex is a history teacher :D

And of course, we must end this entry with a picture of the Eiffel Tower.

Food time!

Holy crap, as it were.

I’ve just been to Paris for a week where Tom asked me to marry him.

I said yes.

Reason for silence.

I GOT A DISTINCTION. The highest grade available!

An early start is good for your heart!

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Went out for a morning jog with Phil again. Didn’t feel sick afterwards this time. Actually felt good. (w00t.)

Today I plan on going to the scrapstore with El to buy some supplies that I will need in Sweden. Tomorrow is the day when we get the grades and take our stuff down. Tomorrow is the very last day of the course. It feels so strange to not have any pressure on me anymore. I used to have projects all the time, in fact, we didn’t even have a single project free holiday during the entire course. So for 1 year without any breaks AT ALL, I have been working on some kind of project. Over christmas. Over Easter. I got so used to working that my hands now need to do something continuously. I have been turned in to a complete workaholic but I still enjoy it so much. Even more now than I did when I first started out. It feels as if I am actually on track. I know more what I want out of my life than I did before.

Oh coffee’s done.

On a sidenote, I watched Panoramas investigation of Scientology a few days ago. It is absolutely nuts.

Almost there now.

Getting closer and closer to the last day of the course. On Friday at 4pm the grades will be posted on the boards at Uni. I think that is very… Well.. Public. Not used to it. But we’ll see how it goes.

For now. Here’s some referenced people sketches and some photos of my space from the exhibition.

Installation 1 Installation 2 Installation 3

Exhibition has started now.

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Yesterday was the cleaning day at Uni before the show. This meant that we cleared the entire studio, scrubbed everything from top to bottom and painted the walls white. Many people sneezed and felt a little bit ill due to all the dust, paint and chemicals hanging around the air, but I began to get a serious headache. I think it also was triggered by being outside in hard wind before.

Normally, if I ache, it’s always my tummy. Never had problems with my head. Abby told me to go home, but I didn’t want to leave the entire class with the cleaning stuff. To be honest, I felt like they would think I was trying to escape it, even though they of course wouldn’t. Maybe I was feeling guilty for not doing so much in the afternoon. But later on I just couldn’t do anything. Dan told me I didn’t look like myself anymore, so I decided to actually just pack up and go home.

Everything around me was kind of blurred and distant. I am not used to the kind of headache I had, so it was a little bit scary. Came home, tried to have something to eat and just relax on the couch, but couldn’t. Finally went to bed at about 4pm and stayed there. I slept through the entire evening, night and finally woke up now. Headache is gone! But I lost an evening because of it. :(

Geez. I thought that was scary. Clearly I’ve never been seriously ill.
