Fantastic!

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Oh dear. Today was a complete turn around. We were gathered in the centre of Bristol. I was there a bit early and saw a guy sitting lonely on a bench so I thought what I would feel like if I was in his place and decided to go over to him. Started up a conversation and had a nice time until the others got there. Finally met Sophie and Keez(Don’t know the spelling, really!) again who liked my shirt with the attachable letters :P

Soon we were once again split up and I went back to my group where I didn’t really know anyone that well. We were split up in groups of four and did drawing exercises for the first part of the day before lunch. I was in a group of three girls who were all 18, loved clubbing and smoking weed. … No offence to them, they were all extremely nice to me at all times, but just their interests didn’t really.. Appeal to me. Let’s just leave it at that. They wanted to buy shoes and two of them actually went shopping during the lunch break. o_O

I met the chinese girl who’s first name I really can’t remember. But I will ask her tomorrow again. She was fantastic. Also 18 years old and apparently into comics! She knew my music and manga and all that! We went for lunch together and had a good long chat for an hour, which resulted in us almost getting late for class :P

Our teacher is fantastic and allows us to roam around in town, sketching on our own. She trusts us. <3
Talked to more people from my class during the day and started to find other people whom I might try to befriend later on.  Also noticed people who I may avoid :P Like girls more interested in eachothers bags than what the teacher has to say.

At the end of the day, I was going to walk home on my own. I had prepared my minidisc and everything, but I got stopped by a girl (I can’t remember her name. So sorry!) who surprised me by asking if she could walk with me. We walked for a good 15 minutes or so before our paths parted and had a really nice chat on the way. Even though we had virtually nothing in common, we still got on well together and were both very openminded about eachothers interests. She was into fashion textiles (which I tend to avoid like the plague) and I am into comics (something she probably doesn’t touch :P).

Overall… I LOVE it. Tomorrow we have drawing class at the Uni and I will get to meet the person who probably will be my main teacher over the next few years.

I am loving this.

Getting ready for day two.

We are meeting in the centre of Bristol today where we will be doing several drawing exercises. Hopefully I will find someone in my class who is nice and willing to let me come with them during the lunchbreak. But we’ll see.

Talked to Matt and Thomas about it yesterday. Apparently they had had similar experiences. Matt went to Frenchay Campus (UWE) where his course consisted of about 100 people. At the end of it, only 15 remained. People basically choose to study because they don’t want to work. So finding people who are actually *passionate* about the subject is going to be hard the first year.

Tom also met so many bitches and wankers he just stopped counting them. It took him until Christmas to find the people he really wanted to hang out with.

Sure, I go to University to get my education, that is the main thing, but if I don’t find any friends, I will be one bitter student :P Today I’m really gonna try my best again. Wish me luck!

The first day of University.

I returned home a few minutes ago with mixed feelings. Let me explain further.

When I first got to the campus in the morning, there was lots of people there so I joined them in the cantina. I didn’t know anyone there so I had to be sure to make the moves to socialize. The first girl I sat by was to become my first victim. I started up a conversation by asking her a question about the student papers and suchlike, but the only reply I got back was: “I don’t know.” Then she went dead silent and began playing with her mobile phone.

Okay. So that hurt a bit. I did not really attempt to talk to her again, she never even looked my way. I don’t think she even saw me. I chatted a bit with some asian guys who happily chatted back and were extremely friendly, but soon everyone was moving and I got lost in the crowd of people. Many knew eachother.

Doing paperwork, being welcomed and suchlike took a few hours and I managed to actually overhear two guys chatting about World of Warcraft so I quickly butted in and began a conversation about online games. They were nice and didn’t look at me like I was a freak. :P Of course their group was called in to the enrolment room, so I was once again alone. I heard someone going: “Well I don’t know anyone here!” behind me so I went over to a little group of people who were chatting on and just said: “I don’t know anyone either. Can I stay with you guys?” Or something like that. I just went straight to the point, really. Luckily they were cool and just pulled me into the group as they began chatting again. Through them I met three people whom I instantly adored.

Joe, Sophie and Keez(spelling!?). The fire alarm went off and everyone shuffled outside. We were talking all the time and had a really good time. I was happy. Later on me, Joe and Sophie went out and had a sit down on the lawn where we ate lunch and babbled on for ages. These people were absolutely brilliant. They also understood what it’s like to come to an entirely new place and not knowing anybody. Sophie told me that everyone would be more guarded these first days, so maybe that’s why people had been so quiet around me before or something. Must be the impression you get of me though. Scandinavian girl with funny hair and a tag on her bag reading “Pervert” with an accompanied set of small handcuffs. Maybe I am a tad weird to most of them?

Then of course we got split up and I could only say bye to the small selection of people who actually chatted so happily to me earlier. None of them got in my class. This made me ever so slightly annoyed. Instead I ended up in a class where I knew noone and people seemed to know eachother. Let me give you an example.

I go out during a break and meet up with two of my female classmates who are talking about something by the reception. I say something like: “Not sure what to do now, really.” and showing them a slight smile while glancing around the campus. They just laughed a bit and walked off. Leaving me there by myself. Not once did they say: “Oh, but come with us then!” or “Will you be alright?” since I was obviously alone.

They simply left. I try not to generalise, but for some reason, girls don’t seem to like me. :P Sophie and Keez were exeptions. But most girls there did not offer me a glance, did not say hi, did not offer me to join them in any way. In fact, they did a very good job ignoring me full out. Some of the *guys* chatted with me, came over to my desk and looked at stuff etc. So silly in a way.

I deliberately chose a desk that was in the middle of the studio room to get closer to all the people there, even though I felt like taking a desk in the far end of a dark corner. Like I used to do in the old days back in Sweden. I always had my headphones on and kept to myself, drawing. Now I started to get this.. Habit back, sort off. I tried to fight it off, but at the end of the day when I found myself sitting alone in the bus with an empty seat by my side while all the other seats were cramped with people chatting happily, I just gave in and put my headphones on.

Lovely music.

The course itself seems really awesome with wonderful teachers and new materials. I just need to get to know some good people.

Unreal.

Should’ve written this earlier, but I’ve been at Anna’s place to celebrate that she got together with Tim. Met new people there and had chocolate cake :O! Was feeling ill atm, but still had a great time! Didn’t really have the energy to write the following thing yesterday.

Me and Tom got a new flat. We have chosen one now and will move in within a month. Still need to sort out stuff with Landlord, but otherwise, we’re outta here! It feels so cool. ;_;

A place of our own. Finally!

Sightings of an awesome flat.

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

Yesterday, me and Tom went for a viewing of a flat. I didn’t expect it to be anything special because of the photos I had seen. I was surpised to say the least. The flat has a very high ceiling with black crowns coming down from two of the rooms. The windows are as tall as the entire wall… O_O Not only that, but the flat also has three small.. Alcoves above the rooms. Hard to explain, but you would need ladders to get up to these small spaces. I was amazed by them.

The back room overlooks a nice garden… Only three major problems with the flat are:

It is close to the Bristol University Student Union. Noisy at night I bet.

It does not seem to have a freezer o_O

I would have to walk quite far to get to my bus every day.

But.. gaah. It’s… beautiful otherwise… Even has a black fireplace.. o_o

*sighs* I hope we sort something out with this current flat.

Almost done! *goes into town to finish*

The silence.

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

The house is suddenly so silent and empty. I was getting a tad used to having the OMG people here and now suddenly all of them are gone. ;_;

Personally want to thank everyone who came and just let you know that I had a blast! Hopefully I did not create another OMG plague, but we’ll see if Sparklehoof gets sick for 6 weeks again :P (Sorryyy!)

Very tired now. But still very energetic. So much that needs to be done and I can’t wait to RP! I wanna RP! NOW <3

*goes to draw and write the end of Jen’ji, after Kilgore’s nudge*

Awwwww.

Kilgore is so cute when he’s sleeping :P

Zergamah/Sami/Vince told me to wake him up by hissing: “I seeeee yooooouuuu…” So I did. Poor boy just hit his head in the wall and went back to sleep. I don’t have the heart to properly wake him up.

Will work on my adventure today. Hopefully we will have time to play it tonight. If not, I have something in storage for another day. Raawrrr.

Gonna try to make Kilgore play Project Zero with me today. freak ass game. Make me almost nauseous out of fear.

Am I sick for liking that?
